Welcome to UK Weather Chase — the UK’s frontline storm-chasing team.

Founded in 2020 by Sam Whitfield, the project began with a simple spark: the public’s fascination with extreme weather. That curiosity ignited a passion, and today our team explores every corner of the UK to capture the beauty, power, and unpredictability of Mother Nature.

This journey hasn’t come without sacrifice. We’ve put everything on the line to commit 100% to our work this year
— a commitment that carries real risk, but one we’ve been brave enough to embrace.

Our Mission & Our Team

As Sam puts it:
“We have an amazing team focused on everything related to storm chasing. They support the day-to-day operations and the work behind the scenes. It’s not about me — it’s about us. We all have a story, we all share the same passion, and we’re all self-confessed weather junkies.”
We live, eat, and breathe the weather.
We are not a flash-in-the-pan social media group chasing virality — we are dedicated storm chasers committed to authenticity, accuracy, and respect for the forces we pursue.

Connecting With Communities

Storm chasing isn’t just about the weather — it’s about people.

We love interacting with the public through meet and greets, school visits, talks, and community presentations. Being part of local events has always been important to us, and we fully intend to continue supporting the communities and events that support us.

We’re even hoping to attend or participate in local carnivals — whether that means taking part, showcasing what we do, or simply being there to show support.

What We Do

Our goal is to showcase the raw beauty of extreme weather while raising awareness about the risks and realities behind it. We bring our followers along with us, documenting the journey as it unfolds and telling the story together.

We monitor severe weather in real time and provide live reporting, on-ground updates, and high-quality footage during fast-moving events — often when official information is still catching up.
While we never interfere with emergency services, our presence has allowed us to assist in situations where responders couldn’t immediately reach those in need — such as helping two elderly women affected by severe winds, and closing a flooded road to prevent further vehicles becoming trapped while contacting HM Coastguard.

These are just a few examples of how our work has genuinely helped reduce risk and prevent incidents.

Supporting Weather Science

Our team also collects detailed weather and impact data, shared with researchers and weather organisations to support forecasting, geographical understanding, and situational awareness during extreme conditions.

Through our actions, professionalism, and commitment to safety, we’ve earned respect from several authorities and weather agencies who have thanked us for our contributions.

Commercial Growth & Future Development

This new chapter for UK Weather Chase allows us to be more active than ever — benefiting not only our team, but also our partners and the businesses that support our chases on an ad-hoc basis.

We’re continually improving our livestream setup. Recent tests during our latest snow chase introduced new features and upgrades, all part of our mission to deliver a seamless, reliable experience with zero excuses.

A Unique Community

We’re a dedicated community with a unique passion — and many of our followers, supporters, and local partners appreciate having those extra pairs of eyes during severe weather.

The Documentary: The Brave and the Bold

Our upcoming documentary, “THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD,” reveals the story behind UK Weather Chase — the risks we take, the rewards we earn, and the courage required to face some of the most powerful forces in nature head-on.

UK Weather Chase is built on bravery, passion, and respect for the storms we follow.
This is our story — and we invite you to be part of it.
